Will Jesus Know Me? It’s those people who don’t believe Jesus is the Son of God and that He is the Way and don’t want him and think they don’t need him. They think they are “good enough” on their own to get in. He will say, sorry, I never knew you. But not to someone who wants to have faith!!!! Even wanting to have faith is having faith!!!! When someone says “Jesus, save me” they are IMMEDIATELY known by Him. Your name is put in the God’s Book of Life. When you get to heaven’s gate, He says, “Come in, I know you. You asked me to save you.” When a man asked Jesus “What must we do to do the works God requires?” Jesus answered “The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent.” He did not say....go to church, go here, do this.. just believe Also, Jesus is not looking for mounds and mounds of faith to ‘know’ you. He looks for the tiniest bit of faith. He mentioned it -- a mustard seed which is the smallest seed of all plants but grows into the largest plant. He said that’s all it takes. Someone has a tiny bit of faith and God does the rest. The faith of Christians is not always rock solid strong. That’s WHY we go to groups like Bible studies and church. We need to hear how God is working in other peoples lives and to reminded of how he worked in our own. We encourage each other’s faith. The Bible says that is the REASON for church. It’s NOT to gain favor with God. It doesn’t work that way. There are times when the heavens are silent, for what seems a long time. Even David (who wrote the Psalms) would start out like that “where are you O God?” and then he would remind himself of when he DID hear from God and how God worked in his life so that his faith would be strengthened in a time of trouble. “Lord, I do believe. Help me overcome my unbelief!” That’s was some man’s response when Jesus asked him if he believed. He believed but also struggled with faith at the same time. (Mark 9:24) God is not an angry God being disappointed in you and angry and shaking his head. That is humanness. We try to make God have human qualities --- that he would ‘love’ like we do. We compare him to some father’s we have on this earth or we compare him to ourselves and how we love. We think he is expecting us to be perfect....and giving us ‘conditional’ love. It just isn’t true!!! “But you, O Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness.” (Psalm 86:15) |
