My Testimony He was taught at a young age to respect his elders. The young man basically grew up in church. He got saved at the age of ten years old. At the age of 15 years old, tragedy hit the family hard. This young man lost his mother, whom he loved so much. She was the one who taught him respect of others, to love and respect women companions, also taught and showed him the love of God. At the ages of 16, 17, and 18, the young man became a little rebellious, turned from God, started hanging out in the street, hanging with the wrong people, and drinking. He met an attractive young lady and married at 18 years old. He started going back to church, he was very active in the community, and worked after high school. He enlisted in the Army, but was it was cut short after only being away from home for 2 months. His sister was terminally ill which was life threatening, so he was discharged. He came home and was constantly in prayer for God to heal his sister. After three months of battling her conditions, God answered the young man's prayer for his sister. She was back to good health. After being married to his wife for nearly 4 years, another tragedy struck his life. His wife was killed in a house fire. She was 4 months pregnant with their first child. That really devastated this man. And for the first time in his life, he questioned God, "WHY?" First it was his father, then his mother, and now his wife, whom he loved, protected, and provided for. A few months before her passing away, this man and wife lay in the bed in each other's arms, saying to each other, that neither one would leave the other: no-one could break them apart. And they cried in each other's arms that night. That same year, this young man, who was brought up in church, turned his back on God. He who had a loving family, a God-fearing mother, he was very respected in the community, and had a beautiful wife, found himself on the other side of the law and in jail. For the next 10 years, this young man had to be subjected to the lifestyle of being incarcerated! During his time in jail, he had the time to do a lot of thinking. What he wanted out of life, and what he wanted to do after his release. Before he was incarcerated, he earned an associates degree in business administration and he continued his education while in jail by taking correspondence courses such as accounting. He was very active in the education department and became a tutor for a number of years. He learned trades in upholstery shop and sign shop. He rededicated his life back to God, witnessing to people of the goodness of God. He was active in the church and a member of the choir. This young man's life changed for the better. Just a few weeks ago this young man completed an intense Bible course that was conducted by volunteers and the Chaplain of the prison. It was a 6 month long course. Quoted by this young man, "Its not where you find yourself that makes the individual or how much money he or she earns, or what type of car they drive; it is what you believe in and Who you believe in which lives inside of your heart, body, and soul." As for the young man, I can honestly say God has truly blessed him and made him a God-fearing man today. He wants to share the love of Christ with everyone that crosses his path. God has blessed him with new friends and extended family members with much love for him and what he stands for. He is caring, loving, kind, a very warm person who loves Jesus Christ. I know him, because that story was about me, Mr. Darnell Moore.I pray that my story was a blessing to you. Mr. Darnell L. Moore |
