Guard Your Heart Prov. 4:23 Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life. At Jacob's ball game Heather runs around playing with the children that are there. As we sat there watching we looked and Heather was running towards us. We didn't think anything of it because she runs everywhere she goes! She seemed fine as she approached us. We asked her what she was up to. She told us that some girls she was playing with got "snotty" with her so she left them. She said the one girl was her friend from school and is always nice to her then, but now she was turning on her. As she talked about it she began to cry. She also said that another little girl had thrown dirt in her face and told her to go away! Heather reached for me and began to sob. My heart ached for my little girl. I thought, "my precious little girl being mistreated, not appreciated!" I reassured her that she was valuable and did not deserve to be treated that way. I told her to be more careful in giving her heart to all her friends and to save it for those special friends that were true friends. I told her it was good to be kind to everyone but not to try to be close, best friends with everyone. I sensed the Holy Spirit showing me that God feels that way when I come to Him with my wounded heart. He reminded me that many people will not recognize the treasure that I am and will mistreat me. God waits to draw me close to His heart and reassure me that His love is trustworthy and secure and is the only Love that that is worthy of my whole heart. He also wants me to be kind to everyone but to save my heart for Him alone. |
