How God Worked in My Life By Ed Heck
When I
was about 17 years old, I met this girl named Tammy Mosley. In
time we began a pretty good friendship. Her father was a
pastor in a church in Pittston, Pennsylvania. Tammy had two
sisters. Their names were Tina and Cindy. We would go to
Christian skating together. See my parents were not Christian
people. So I was brought to the Lord through friendship. Tammy
would talk to me about the Lord, but since I was not in a
Christian household, I did not understand what she was talking
about. She gave me music. She gave me a tape of Christian
music. One band stood out. They were Degarmo and Key a
Christian rock band. I started to go to church. I attended
First Assembly of God on South Main Street in Wilkes-Barre. A
van would pick me up at my house on Sunday mornings. I would
go to Sunday school and church. That is where I got saved and
accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior.
The years
went by and Tammy and I lost contact. The lady that drove the
van moved away. I lived in Laurel Run and was a pretty strong
Christian at that time. I attended Laurel Run Primitive
Methodist church. I met this guy. His name was John Pudlosky.
He and I became very close. He became a second father to me.
We would do a lot together. We would talk about the Lord. He
really was a great influence in my life. He taught me how to
pray. To this day we are still friends.
I attended
Laurel Run PM church for about ten years or so. Then my family
moved to Wilkes-Barre. I stopped going to Laurel Run PM
Church. I felt it was too far to drive. For the next two years
I was backsliding while I tried several different churches. At
that time I was working at the Sears warehouse. In the month
of March 2001, I was leaving work late one night. As I was
leaving a young lady was looking for someone to help her. I
said I would. She was taking some wood in her car. I helped
her tie the wood in her trunk and I offered to follow her
home.
Several months later, I was working in the
office because I had hurt my back. That same lady who I had
helped got hired to work in that office also. It turned out
that she was a devoted Christian. Her name was Marjorie. We
became like best friends. The next four months or so we would
read our bibles in my car after work. We would go on for hours
reading and studying about the Lord. One day she told me about
Calvary Bible Chapel. She had three little girls that went to
school there. I started to go to church there in December
2001. Marjorie and I are really good friends to this day. I
met her husband. His name is Bill. We are also good friends. I
am very blessed to have Marjorie, Bill and their children in
my life. I really love them with all my heart and soul.
Marjorie changed my life.
I am so happy that Jesus is
in my life. I love the fact that I attend a church that is so
close to God. The people make me feel like I am part of their
family. In my life right now I have a lot going for me. I am
grateful for who and what I became.
Through the years
friendship has led the way for me. The good Lord was always
there for me and I am thankful that one day I will be with
Jesus in heaven.
